The back story: GOOGLE SPLASH paintings by San Francisco Bay Area artist Laura Lengyel.
The artist created the paintings in 2013, originally inspired by “Google Mockers” art gallery ad in Beverly Hills Courier, March 17, 1989, printed on the same page as her solo show announcement at Richard Burton Gallery.
“The word “google” captured my attention, especially associated with a nearby Los Angeles art gallery. It was so interesting to me that I later researched its origin, and learned that the word was associated with the mathematical term Googil, or 10 to the 100th power. I was fascinated by the concept long before the San Francisco Peninsula Google.com Company became so powerful, popular and famous. “ ~Laura Lengyel, 2015
