Sculpture—Sierra Suite, Cast Stone Bas Relief Sculptures
The Sierra Suite of bas-relief sculptures are made of fiber and metal reinforced gypsum cement engineered for architectural elements and surface embellishments. Each one is uniquely hand painted and fitted with permanent hanging cleats designed for secure interior commercial or residential installation. MountainScape is made out of cast polyurethane. Bay Area delivery and hanging devices are included with purchase. Professional installation, crating and shipping to other locations can be arranged.
The Sierra series reflects the lush growth, verdure, rich plant life and trees of Northern California. My artistic goal was to show the character of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the textures, shapes, intricate detail, and inherent beauty of native plants. To accomplish this, I used real ferns, moss, leaves, sticks, bark and stones collected from Crystal Lake to create the masterworks, and developed special casting and fabrication methods to preserve their freshness, integrity and delicacy. The first set was installed in the Harrah’s Resort Hotel lobby at South Lake Tahoe in 1989. Four of each pattern were cast as a limited varied edition and the molds were retired long ago. I welcome sculpture commissions for public or private settings and enjoy working with clients to realize their creative concepts and designs.
